Scholarship Program

Rosa Verde Foundation, Incorporated is committed to helping the youth of Pensacola, FL become their ancestors' wildest dreams through our scholarship program. We give scholarships each year to youth in the Pensacola area who are exemplary in academics, extracurricular activities, and community service. 

The Rosa Verde Scholarship was created to provide high school seniors who exhibit high scholastic achievement and community involvement an opportunity to further their education through college or vocational avenues. The funds from the Sneaker Ball go to support the scholarship initiative. The applications are reviewed by the foundation scholarship committee using an established rubric to select the most qualified student. The scholarships are awarded after the student graduates and is accepted into a college or vocational program of their choice.

 

Our scholarship program has awarded $3000.00 scholarships to 9 students in the Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties in the years 2023 & 2024.  Scholarships are funded through donations from agencies, organizations, and the citizens in and around the Pensacola area.  

The eligibility requirements for the scholarship are as follows:

 

  • Acceptance into a university/four-year college or vocational education program

  • A minimum weighted 3.00 GPA for a university/four-year acceptance

  • A minimum 2.60 GPA for a vocational program acceptance

  • United States citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

  • Resident of Escambia County or Santa Rosa County

  • Florida Virtual School and Home School students obtaining a standard high school diploma who meet the criteria are eligible to apply.

The application requirements are as follows:

  • High school transcript and SAT or ACT Score(s)

  • Applicant will select an essay question to answer

  • Letter of Recommendation from a high school principal, assistant principal, dean, teacher, or guidance counselor.  Florida Virtual School students or home-schooled students may submit a letter of recommendation from a community leader..

Rosa Verde is a registered 501(c)3 with the purpose to enable the educational advancement of individuals by and through the providing of one of more scholarships to assist financially needy students in Pensacola, FL and to operate exclusively for religious, charitable, and educational purposes within the meaning of sec 501(c)3 of the iRC of 1986. This organization will use contributions to promote by distribution, donations, to not-for-profit and federally exempt organization, provide one or more scholarships to financially needy students.
